In 2015, adidas embarked on an ambitious journey to replace all virgin polyester with a recycled equivalent by 2024. The brand’s “Made To Be Remade” (MTBR) initiative has played a crucial role in this effort , with a proposed NMD S1 joining the fight.
Although new to the NMD series that helped popularize Boost cushioning in the mid-2010s, the newly revamped silhouette has quickly become one of the brand’s most exciting products, as it combines design cues before- trendsetters with comfort and quality. Constructed of Primeknit and other materials, the shoe naturally indulges in some of the recycled materials gathered by the German sportswear giant, but its upcoming “Core Black” version in “Made To Be Remade” colorway offers a life cycle completely circular for the pair: recycled materials are sourced – without sacrificing performance – to create a product that adidas is committed to taking back in order to manufacture a new product. The NMD S1 comes with a QR code that wearers can scan in order to learn how to participate in the company’s sustainable future, which also extends to apparel and other items.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, while you wait to secure your pair from the adidas CONFIRMED app on Thursday, May 19, for $220 USD.
