The September meeting of the Alpha Tau Chapter, Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary for Women Educators was held at Tomlinson Run State Park. The meeting was opened by President Diane Bowers. The Thought for the Day, in memory of September 11, was donated by Fran Jones.

Secretary Velda Icard read the minutes of the May meeting and the June board meeting which were approved by the group. She also read several correspondence. Jones presented the financial report, including a discussion of membership fee payment options. It was decided to make a program at the October meeting to help those who wish to make their payments online.

As part of new business, members discussed the Founders Day celebration, which takes place every October. Selfless projects were also discussed, including filling Christmas shoe boxes. More information will be distributed at the next meeting. Hostess committees have been assigned and the locations of the next meetings have been determined.

The hostesses of Welcome Back / Fifties Fun Social were Amy Hannahs and Pam Robinson. Members enjoyed participating in Hula Hoop contests, bubble gum blowing contests, and 1950s trivia. The refreshments were root beer floats.

The next meeting will be on October 12 at the Swaney Memorial Library.
