Cycling for commuting or running errands is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. However, I’ve found that when I do a lot of intermittent commuting, where I momentarily park my bike to eat something or run to a store, most cycling shoes aren’t a suitable option.
This problem made me realize the limitations of many cycling shoes and led me to look for a versatile model that allowed me to ride and walk without compromise. That’s why I was thrilled to find out Adidas Velosamba cycling shoes.
What is a cycling shoe?
When you pedal a bicycle, there is a lot of wasted energy. Each leg only moves the bike forward downhill. Also, it can be easy for your foot to slip off the pedal in slippery conditions, which makes riding a little dangerous. Cycling shoes effectively solve both of these problems and more.
Quality cycling shoes snap onto the pedal so the rider becomes one with the bike. Not only does this give the operator better control, it also prevents feet from slipping off the pedals, regardless of riding conditions. Since the feet are attached to the pedals, this means the rider can propel the bike forward by lifting their foot as well as pushing it down, allowing them to enjoy almost every moment of the kick. pedal. Finally, the shoe clips onto the pedal at the ideal position on the bottom of the foot to help the rider maintain the most efficient form at all times.
How do Adidas Velosamba cycling shoes work?
The Adidas Velosamba cycling shoes look almost like a regular pair of tennis shoes. This means they are stylish and comfortable when walking. What makes them so special is the cleverly hidden clip that is undetectable – it doesn’t even click when you walk. The two-bolt design makes these shoes compatible with SPD and mountain cleats. When you’re ready to ride, just step on the pedal and you’re locked in. Additionally, the shoes have a nylon inner plate which is heavier than carbon but offers more flexibility making them quite easy to walk on.
What you need to know before buying Adidas Velosamba cycling shoes
These cycling shoes are not designed for distance or speed. Rather, they’re intentionally designed with commuters in mind, so they’re perfect for anyone planning to cycle shorter distances to and from work.
Although I found the shoes a bit narrow (I usually wear extra-wide shoes), other riders noted that they fit quite well. Also, it is important to understand that these shoes are not as light or stiff as dedicated cycling shoes. However, it is this aspect that makes them suitable for walking, so it is an acceptable compromise.
