Welcome to SNX DLX, your weekly roundup of the best sneakers on the internet. Last week, Travis Scott sucked all the air out of the room with his Reverse Mocha Air Jordan 1 and now that that’s settled, sneaker brands are scrambling. Nike still dominates our 10 entries (yeah, we’re back to 10!) but Adidas and New Balance shouldn’t be ignored as they also turn the heat down.
If you’re an Air Max 95 fan, this is your week, this time around we’ve included two of Nike’s best Air Max 95 drops, leaving two more on the cutting room floor. Honestly, all four are our dope, but these are SNX DLX, not Aix Max 95 DLX, so we’re not going to fill nearly half our list with Air Max 95s. Jordans? Well, that’s another story.
So without further ado, let’s dive into the 10 best sneakers releasing this week and where to buy them.
Nike Zoom LeBron 3 Black and University Red
If the Washed Teal AF-1 and Dunk have you nostalgic for a LeBron downfall, look no further than this week’s Zoom LeBron 3 in black and college red. The sneaker basically looks like something Darth Vader might wear on the weekends with its black patent leather upper with silver, red, and blue accents. The design is apparently inspired by barber poles but… we only see Dark. It’s much cooler than saying “this sneaker is inspired by hair salons”, by the way, if you read this marketing from Nike.
The Nike Zoom LeBron 3 Black and University Red is set to release on July 27 for a retail price of $185. Pick up a pair through the Nike SNKRS app.
Adidas Yeezy Slide ONYX/Bone
Is it really summer if you don’t wear sandals? This summer has been pretty hot across the state, so if you’ve spent more days in the Toboggans, Crocs, or Foam RNNRS than you care to admit, you probably need a refresher. Why not finally try Yeezy Slides?
You know there’s someone out there right now trying to copy both the ONYX and Bone Yeezy Slide this week. Are you that person? Of the two Slide colorways, the Bone is the better of the two. So if you’re going to cop just one, get the Bone.
The Adidas Yeezy Slide ONYX and Bone are available now for a retail price of $70. Pick up a pair through the Adidas CONFIRMED app or Yeezy Supply.
Nike Air Max 95 Air Anatomy
I want to point out that it was a toss up between the cut of this sneaker or the Light Bone version that comes out the same day. In the end, Anatomy of Air won the toss because I think it’s a sneaker that fits better and represents the season and I’m a sucker for that kind of stuff.
Coming with a bone midsole, this sneaker sports a premium suede upper with chunky rope laces and a gradient colorway that transitions from deep burgundy to white.
The Nike Air Max 95 Anatomy of Air is set to release on July 28 for a retail price of $180. Pick up a pair through the Nike SNKRS app.
Air Max 95 Off Black and Limestone
The Air Max 95 has always felt like a cross between a hiking and running shoe to me, so I have to call this Off Black and Limestone colorway the best Air Max 95 of the week. I love the earthy woodgrain tones of the upper, which combine Cobblestone and Limestone with Magma Orange accents on the lace loops.
Reflective elements adorn the heel and an open mesh tongue keeps things light while gently reminding that the Air Max 95 is NOT a hiking shoe, despite what I think it looks like. Unless you like your socks stained with dirt.
The Air Max 95 Off Black and Limestone is set to release on July 29 for a retail price of $185. Pick up a pair through the Nike SNKRS app.
New Balance MADE in USA 990v2 Chrysanthemum with NB Navy
New Balance is releasing a v1 and a v2 990 this week, both in this gorgeous Chrysanthemum with the NB Navy colorway, but we have to give way to the v2. Featuring a mixed hairy suede, pigskin and mesh upper, the v2 sports a synthetic suede sock liner and ABZORB midsole in one of New Balance’s best in-house colorways yet.
The New Balance MADE in USA 990v2 Chrysanthemum with NB Navy is set to release on July 28 for a retail price of $194.99. Pick up a pair via the New Balance online store.
Converse x PLAY Comme des Garçons One Star
Comme des Garçons is finally teaming up with Converse for a new sneaker adorned with hearts, this time on a different silhouette. The Boys One Star PLAY Come features that familiar heart and eye logo woven with the One Star’s familiar cutout star branding on a premium organic cotton canvas upper.
It’s not as iconic as the CDG Chuck but it’s cool to see the brand branching out into a different silhouette.
The Converse x PLAY Comme des Garçons is set to release July 28 at Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market stores globally, as well as Dover Street Market and Converse online stores for a retail price of $140.
