Calgary, Alberta – We are investigating a sexual assault in downtown Calgary and asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
At around 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, a group of individuals were standing at the LRT station at 3rd Street SW, when an unknown man approached the group and started yelling obscenities. It is believed that the man then walked up to a woman in the group, sexually assaulted her and walked away.
The suspect is described as being around 5’9 ” tall, between 25 and 30 years old, with a heavy build and a goatee. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black t-shirt with a white logo on the front and back, jeans and black Converse shoes with white soles.

We take these incidents very seriously and encourage anyone who has been sexually assaulted to contact us, regardless of when the incident occurred. There is no time restriction in Canada on the time police have to lay charges after a criminal offense has been committed.
Sexual assault victims who seek medical treatment without police intervention can get support through the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team. This is a partnership program between Alberta Health Services and the SPC to help preserve evidence before involving the police.
People can access medical care for up to four days after a sexual assault and will receive confidential care and counseling. Medical staff will collect and store key physical evidence from victims, which will then be retained for up to one year and provided to the police only if and when the victim decides to report the assault.
