An upcoming exhibit at the Indiana Historical Center looks at the history of basketball in the state.
Director of External Engagement and Special Initiatives Marianne Sheline said visitors to the Indiana State Fair can preview the exhibit aboard the Indiana History Train. Indiana.
“When you walk in, you’re going to get a glimpse of the game itself, how and when it was invented, and then we do a countdown of 15 historic moments in basketball,” Sheline said.
The exhibit also highlights “Chuck” Taylor and his contribution to basketball and the shoe he made famous – the Converse All Star.
The Indiana Historic Train is located north of Family Fun Park and east of Pioneer Village.
“When you explore there, you will eventually see three bright red train carriages, and then they can pass, cross. The train is not moving,” Sheline said.
The Indiana History Train is included with admission to the fair.
“Chuck Taylor All Star” opens in March 2023 at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center and will run through August 2024.
