MSCHF is no newcomer to the upheaval of the norm, best known for its legal dispute over a pair of blood-soaked Air Max 97s, notably dubbed the “Satan Shoes.” Just three years after its creation, the Brooklyn-based conceptual collective is now exploring its disruptive nature through its first-ever exhibition at Perrotin.
After transforming the gallery into an interactive shopping mall, various sections include a medieval armory, a game wing with a first-person shooter with the members of BTS, a chair simulator where you can walk around as Bob Ross and a tribute to their ongoing legal proceedings. with Vans on the Vans Old Skool “Wavy Baby”.
Creating a digitally liquefied impression of the silhouette, MSCHF expands its “Wavy Baby” collection by showcasing a total of six classic models in conjunction with its FOOT LOCKER display – including the Air Jordan 1, Converse Chuck Taylor, Reebok Shaqnosis and the ‘adidas Yeezy Wave Runner 700 to name a few – utilizing the distorted aesthetic.
Opening November 3, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitors will be greeted by 24kGoldn’s severed hand as the rapper remains hidden behind a wall, inviting a conversation about the power of stardom. Check out official images of the iconic silhouettes and their wavy constructions below.
