Render Meat & Potatoes will give food to frontline workers at vaccination site | Business

SOUTH BEND – Render Meat & Potatoes has partnered with United Beverage and Stanz Foodservice in an effort to feed frontline workers.

Render co-owner Hilary Maich said the idea came when she noticed that her business had received help from government loans, loyal customers and her family during the pandemic and that she wanted to do His part.

“(The business) is going in the right direction, so why not do something positive for others?” Maich said. “A lot of people have taken care of me right now and I feel bad that we haven’t helped anyone, and we can.”

Starting next week, Render employees will cook and give 50 home-cooked meals every Tuesday and Wednesday to frontline workers and volunteers attending the Hedwig Memorial Center vaccination site, 331 S. Scott St. in South. Bend. Maich anticipates that she will continue the donation for four weeks, but there is a chance that it could be extended depending on logistics and donations.

The restaurant will also change its hours in order to complete the act of goodwill and will be open from Thursday to Saturday. Maich said the move maximizes employee time and effort while giving back to the community.

Donations can be made by calling Render at 574-239-7777 or in person at 521 E. Jefferson Blvd.
