Sorority cooks over 70,000 meals for needy families at Central Florida conference – WFTV

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is packing more than 70,000 meals for families in need at the 70th International Conference in Orlando.

This year’s theme was “The Magic of Excellence in the Beautiful City”.

In addition to packing meals, the sorority received the Hunger Hero Pioneer Award, recognizing their work with the organization over the past two years.

Alpha Kappa Alpha was a major contributor to the launch of US Hunger’s Virtual Food Drive program at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sorority continued its momentum for two years, feeding thousands of families across the country.

During the conference, Soles 4 Soles collected lightly worn shoes to donate around the world, and Lions Club International collected lightly worn glasses.
