The West Virgina Fidelis Gamma Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Educators Organization met on April 7 with 16 members in attendance at the Garden Grill Steak House in Weirton. The tables were decorated with an Easter theme – eggs, flowers, bunnies and treats.

President Diane Higigins welcomed members and introduced special guest Ginger Greene, Immediate Southeast Region Vice President, who shared information about the Southeast Region conference to be held. July 28-31 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Greene encouraged members to join other sisters with this “in person” gathering.

Greene installed the new officers for the 2022-2024 biennium, President Diane Higgins, President-Elect Margo Polk, Secretary Sandi Anderson, Corresponding Secretary Susan Cullinan, Treasurer Carolyn Allison and Chaplain Bonnie Queses. The theme of the installation was correlated to the “camera.” Higgins thanked Greene for his role in the installation and presented him with a gift of appreciation – a porcelain bell with painted violets.

Secretary Ruth Fuller read the March minutes. The financial report was presented by Treasurer Carolyn Allison.

Chaplain Bonnie Queses introduced the “Thought of the day.” She read an inspiring story called “Room for Another” From the book, “Chicken soup for the soul of the mother.”

Membership Chair Jerry DeFilippo provided an update on the invitations sent out to potential members. Higgins circulated a “”hostess form for the 2022-2024 biennium, and Fuller circulated personal information forms and a birthday form requesting corrections and edits.

In the framework of unfinished business, a discussion on aid to Ukraine in the form of donations took place. Member Donna Roman shared her experiences and connections with a local Ukrainian family. Donations can be made to this family at First Choice Bank in the name of Help Ukraine 2022: Nataliia Turianyn. The money will be sent to a local priest who will use the funds to buy defense gear for the soldiers/people in that town, including helmets, boots, armor, etc.

There were no new cases.

Hosts of the month, Donna Roman and Margaret Polk, presented plants as door prizes. The winners were Ruth Fuller, Janet Benzo and Diane Higgins. A pansy basket was presented to Greene as guest of honor.

Member Nancy Conley will celebrate her birthday on May 17. The hostesses for the May 5 meeting will be Nancy Conley and Bonnie Queses.

The meeting was adjourned with the singing of “Alpha Delta Kappa’s lamp.”
