At the end of 2015, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James made a lifetime commitment to American sportswear label Nike.
Since then, the player has worked closely with the shoemaker to release a slew of new signature models as well as a few throwbacks from his previous seasons. As James enters his 20th season as a professional, he will introduce the Nike LeBron 2 in the “Maccabi” color scheme in 2004.
This new edition of the shoes will be available online through Nike’s SNKRS app e-commerce site and in select stores. They will be sold for $215 a pair. As of now, the exact launch date for these sneakers is awaited, but you can expect them to arrive anytime soon.
The Nike LeBron 2 Maccabi boots are a nod to the player’s pre-season game in 2004
For those who follow ‘King’ James avidly would probably know that the upcoming Nike LeBron 2′ Maccabi; rend is a player-exclusive shoe he wore in 2004.
He sported these gold metallic boots in a pre-season game against Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv around 18 years ago. Nike and James are now preparing for a larger version of the edition exclusive to players of the time.
The cushioning system of the Nike LeBron 2 shoe is described by the official Nike website as follows:
“The LEBRON II doubled down on its responsive cushioning with high-volume Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel. These were reinforced with a Pebax shell, which supported the cushioning system during quick lateral movements. and hard landings.
Although the pair is fashioned in white gold and metallic, every detail makes it very interesting. Premium leather is married to premium knitted textiles. The end caps are made with sand gold knits surrounded by bright white mudguards.
Touches of white and sandy hues are used in a balanced way to create the upper. These sandy details can also be spotted on the white lace dubrae in the form of a tiny Nike swoosh. Tongue flaps are crafted from white leathers that feature multiple perforations for breathability.
The tongues feature printed designs towards the collars. These printed elements are nicely paired with gold and white eyelets that hold white lace ties. Even, these laces are detailed with the words “King” and “James” on the aglets. Some parts of the sides around them are also covered with knitted elements.
At the neck, these mid-cut pieces show off their thick white leather straps. These Velcro straps are held by buckles, which are placed on the sides. These suspenders are beautifully embossed with bold “NIKE” lettering on one side and James’ jersey number “23” on the other. They also have a large swoosh branding on them. This jersey number is also embroidered on the medial side of the shoe.
Additionally, the plush and padded interior liners are complete with white textiles, while the insole is topped with sandblasted insoles. These soles feature Nike’s swoosh and James lettering. The player’s name is also present on the heel pads, engraved on the golden parts.
Enveloping the aesthetic are chunky white midsoles bonded to semi-translucent sandy outsoles.
Die-hard James fans will have to hold their horses until the release date for the Nike LeBron 2 James “Maccabi” version is made official by the sportswear brand. These shoes will be available on Nike’s SNKRS shopping site.
