Nike has a “Be True” edition to celebrate this year’s LGBT History Month, which begins June 1, 2022. Nike is set to release an apparel collection, as well as a footwear collection to celebrate Pride Month. . Now it looks like these SB Dunk Lows are part of this year’s offering.
While the full extent of the collection has yet to be revealed, we have the first photos of the shoe collection unveiled by sneaker leaker pages, @solebyjc and @apollolou1976 on their Instagram handles.
The images show that this year, Nike is deviating from the dynamic proposals seen in 2021. The newly redone shoes have a smooth leather upper and a traditional sole.
The Nike SB Dunk Lows feature a rainbow with a fresh take on a more laid-back aesthetic. From a distance, the premium smooth leather appears to be crisp white, but upon closer inspection, the soft baby pink hue is mixed with white leather on most overlays to bring in the Pride elements.
The soft pink hue is featured on the trainers to protect them from wear and tear with an additional UV-reactive foil that changes color under different heat signatures to take an innovative take on the traditional Pride rainbow colourway.
The color of rainbows is recreated with stitched details on the upper of the shoe to hold the profile swooshes in place. Rainbow stitching matches on the heel. The sneakers also feature a storage pocket that closes around the tongue of the shoes.
Another Pride detail can be seen with an embossed “BE TRUE” design embroidered on the heel counter in rainbow color on the side of the kicks.
A multicolored ROYGBIV index is visible on the top of the tongue and the insoles. Solid green and yellow hues take over the upper heel panels. Gradient details are applied throughout the footwear, including the heel tabs, tongue, outsole and insoles.
The shoe laces are mismatched with baby pink and baby blue accents on the left and right pair respectively. The shoes feature the classic White midsole and Sail White colored rubber outsoles. Completing the design, a neon-colored “Nike SB” logo will be featured in the center of the insole.
The shoes can be expected to drop in June 2022 during Pride Month celebrations on Nike SNKRS and a few select retailers. Pricing details and a confirmed release date have yet to be released by the label.
